On  April 8, 2025, Civitas University launched the Center for Research and Development in Civil and Defense Security — a modern research and educational unit designed to address strategic public security and defense needs.

The Center for Research and Development in Civil and Defense Security at Civitas University was established to address key challenges faced by public institutions, the academic and educational sectors, and society at large. Its mission is to foster development in civil security and defense through research, education, and collaborative projects with leading institutions and non-governmental organizations across Poland.

The Center’s key focus areas include:

  • Crisis management and critical infrastructure protection (including hospital systems)
  • Energy security, with an emphasis on the development of biogas-based cooperatives
  • Food and water security
  • Countering disinformation and protecting sensitive data
  • Education for security and defense (at both school and university levels)
  • Management of big data and data from satellite and drone surveillance

The Center is part of the Hawk Agreement (Porozumienie Jastrząb) — a national consortium of civilian university research centers working to advance defense initiatives. Civitas University is proud to be the only non-public institution and the only center focused on social education and research within this prestigious network.

The Center is led by Ms. Marta Chalimoniuk–Nowak  a distinguished expert in civil-military cooperation and social research for defense.
